Carbon Trust Standard

The SPIE Matthew Hall team at the NEC has assisted the NEC Group in being one of the first Conference and Arena facilities to have successfully achieved the Carbon Trust Standard.

This was achieved by our on site Energy Management team's ability to retrieve key historic energy records for the whole portfolio of buildings over the last three years, and the ability to present the data in the precise format required by the Carbon Trust assessment team.

To achieve certification against the Standard, the NEC Group had to meet the following requirements;

• Measure carbon footprint over 2-3 years
• Demonstrate a reduction in carbon emissions
• Provide evidence of good carbon management

The assessment process was completed in under half the normal time due to the accurate recording of the energy consumption information and the collaborative way the site team worked with both the Client and the Carbon Trust.
